This week’s theme is a literature study of the book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, by Laura Numeroff. For extra stickers, after your student has heard the book in class, have your child write and illustrate their own mouse book with your help (then bring to class). Students can create their own title, like “If You Give A Mouse A Pizza.” Staple several sheets of paper together and have students become the illustrator of their own book. When complete, have them dictate to you the words for the pages. When students write about the story, they show their comprehension of the story. This is a great activity to promote langauge arts at home.
