May 2 – 6: Busy Week Ahead!

This our last week of Spring Session #1; please register for Spring Session #2 (May 9 – June 17) before Monday, so we can better prepare for classes.

This week’s theme should be entitled “BUSY,” but our theme is “Telling Time.”  Our letter focus is vowels: a, e, i, o, and u.  We will focus on the fact that all of these letters make 2 sounds.  In math, we will learn about the concept of time.

May 3rd and 6th is our annual Muffins With Moms breakfast from 9:00-9:30.  Please come and let us honor all of our MOMS; we are so grateful for you!

May 4th is our Cinco de Mayo Party although the holiday falls on the 5th.  Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican victory over the French army in 1862.  In celebration of this festive holiday, OC Tiny Tots is having a “Taco Bar” lunch with FRESH steak & chicken tacos (prepared to order), rice, beans, chips, tortillas, salsa & guacamole.  All families (regardless of the days you attend class) are invited to join your student on Wednesday, May 4th from 11:00-12:00.  The cost is $6.00 for adults and $5.00 for Tiny Tots students (includes all of the above and tip). Siblings under 3 are free.  The adult price includes 2 tacos, and the child price includes 1 taco.  Please sign up ASAP.  If you cannot come, but would like your student to partake in lunch that day, please send them with $5.  Money is due by Tuesday, May 3rd.  Ole!

The FV Egg Hunt was a great success!  Thank you to all of the parents who helped us prep over 500 bunny ears;  every pair left the booth and could been seen on children on all ages.

We send a HUGE THANK YOU to Dylan N.’s family for donating 3 new banners for OC Tiny Tots.  The banners are perfect, and we couldn’t be happier!!

This week’s theme is “Easter.”  In addition, we will focus on the letter “Jj” and addition concepts.  On Wed. and Thurs., we will have a class Easter Egg Hunt during the last 15 minutes of class.  We hope all families will attend the FV Easter Egg Hunt on Sat., April 22nd, from 8:30 – 11:30 AM.  Please stop by our Tiny Tots booth for a visit and Easter Ears!!

There will be NO CLASS this Friday, as the Rec. Center is closed in preparation for the FV Egg Hunt.

April 11 – 15

This week’s theme is “National Library Week.”  We will be discovering more about books and their genres.  Our letter is “Yy,” and our math focus will be to begin to identify number word names.

Last Friday we began our Student of the Day Book Bags.  When your child is Student of the Day, they will get the opportunity to choose a classroom book to take home and borrow in the class Book Bag.  Not only is reading one of the most important learning experiences for students, but the Book Bag will also teach responsibility and independent choice.  Please return the book and Book Bag at your child’s next class meeting.  If your student comes daily, they will have 2 days with the Book Bag.

New to Tiny Tots on Fridays is our Journal Writing.  On Fridays, students will complete a journal entry – an illustration based on our week’s theme followed by a written description.  Students will be asked to composes a complete sentence with a topic, an event, and a setting.  Depending on each student’s level, parents will either write the dictated sentence or students will sound out words and transfer them to print (invented spelling).  Students will also focus on writing skills, such as the fact that sentences begin with an uppercase letter and end with a punctuation mark.

All journal entries will be compiled into a book at the end of the school year; therefore, you will not see these going home each Friday.  If you’d like to look at your child’s work, please let a teacher know.
